Cheney ignores,bends the rules

The Memorial Day Parade clearly defined the mayoral candidates for voters. Mayor Berger and those who chose to walk with him adhered to the guidelines set forth by the Veterans Council. They promoted Lima while honoring fallen soldiers. They did not promote a candidate as nowhere was any name used on shirts or signs. His opponent, however, chose to ignore or at least bend the rules by blatantly promoting himself rather than promoting the city and honoring those who died our country.

The question is simple: Do we want a mayor who understands and adheres to rules and guidelines while promoting our city and its citizens, or do we want a self-promoter who seems to believe rules don’t apply to him (including the city charter which states, “Candidates for all offices to be voted for at any regular municipal election under the provisions of this Charter shall be nominated at a non-partisan primary election to be held at the time provided by the election laws of the State for primary elections.”)

As he chooses to continue his position as chairman of the Republican Party, Cheney can hardly be perceived as non-partisan nor does he seem willing to act in the spirit of the City Charter.
