Some 40 or 50 years ago the Maumee Watershed assessed a fee on all property owners from Van Wert to Toledo. Several years later it became permanent on all property tax statements.
We were given the understanding it would take care of cleanup and maintenance of all water tributaries going to the Maumee River.
I have requested information from the Van Wert courthouse and the commissioners on the amount of money this brings in each year; the amount spent on administering the account; and how the balance is used since it doesn’t appear while traveling the highways that the banks of the waterways are clear!
In as much as this is public tax money, I would appreciate it if someone could tell me.
