Letter: Bowling event made heart smile

What a wonderful weekend at Westgate Entertainment Center. The Special Olympics bowlers from Allen County and surrounding counties were in Lima for their annual tournament. What a pleasure to see all the smiles and laughter as these bowlers knocked down the pins and received their awards.

Some special tanks need to go out to some people who help make this event possible. First, to all the volunteers who help organize this event, help with lane assignments, recording and tallying scores, and keeping things running smooth.

Next, to the students from Bluffton and Ohio Northern University and Lima Central Catholic along with their staff in the wonderful and enthusiastic presentation for the awards. They also acted as lane monitors to keep things on track.

Also to Andy and Wes Johnston, owners of Westgate, and their staff for again hosting this event. The facility was neat and clean and ready for the event.

It was unfortunate that no local television stations or newspapers covered this event. No, there was no big honor scores rolled. The honor came in watching these bowlers give 100 percent and taking pride in the scores they did roll.
