Letter: The Lima News fails to show compassion

We all know our country is divided over the election results. Mr. Trump said and did things during his campaign that frightened or angered many people who already feel their minority status. I have heard from Muslim families (who are already citizens), assault victims, those struggling with sexual identity, blacks, Hispanics, families with disabled children, and many others. They are concerned about changes he may make. Making fun of their feelings in an editorial cartoon (Tuesday, Dec. 6) is not going help bring this country together.

We need compassion for feelings we may not share or understand. We also need to pray for our country.
