Letter: More guns, not fewer

The recent tragedy in Florida by a presumed terrorist will certainly elicit much commentary.

The predominantly liberal news media and like-minded politicians will be crying for more gun control.

Consider this: Suppose one or more of those being targeted had access to a firearm, such as a “concealed carry” pistol. It is certainly possible that many lives could have been saved by a confrontation with the perpetrator. Of course there could be no guarantee that lives could have been saved, but there would have at least been a means of confronting the shooter.

It need not be one of the guests at the club. The proprietor, a server, a janitor, or any other employee could have been armed, or have access to a firearm.

“Gun control” is not the answer. Regrettably, we as citizens of the USA must be ready and willing to protect ourselves and our companions. Not fewer guns, but more guns in responsible, trained hands.
