Letter: Hospice volunteers are special people

April is National Volunteer month. Putnam County Hospice celebrates their wonderful team of volunteers who bring compassion, support, and friendship to those facing a life-limiting illness.

Hospice volunteers offer companionship to people in the final months and weeks of life as well as respite to families and caregivers. In addition, volunteers provide support to the hospice agency through assistance with office tasks, special events, and fundraising efforts. Most hospice volunteers choose to give their time helping others because of their own experience with the compassionate care hospice provided to a dying loved one.

Putnam County Hospice is extremely grateful to their dedicated hospice volunteers who are always eager to assist in any capacity. This celebration of volunteering reminds everyone that hospice volunteers are trained, caring, unique individuals who are truly “angels among us.”

Hospice volunteers receive training and orientation after which they can choose their area of service.
