Letter: Fighting the heroin epidemic

Thank You, Putnam County! The attendance for the Opiate/Heroin Town Hall Event shows how much Putnam County cares about our communities. Education and awareness are not the only components involved in combatting the Opiate/Heroin problems, but they are extremely important.

The showing of support and concern by so many citizens was overwhelming. I was proud to receive comments from our out of County panel members who commented about the amazing turnout and support. You represented our county well and showed us that you are willing to be a part of this process, a process to help ensure we are doing everything we can to educate and bring awareness to Putnam County. This effort needs to continue and continue with the support and involvement of everyone. We need to be there for each other, our youth and for the future of Putnam County!

The drug addiction affects everyone at some point, wether directly by a family member being an addict, being a victim of crime committed against ones property to even affecting your medical insurance. This epidemic has no guidelines or limitations.
