Letter: Prosecutor won’t get vote

The current Van Wert County prosecutor has filed petitions for re-election as prosecuting attorney for 2017.

Let it be known, in the fall of 1993 the current prosecutor’s office provided what I believe to be fallacious information to the grand jury. This resulted in the indictment and subsequent false arrest of an innocent man for a crime that was never committed. A demand for a six figure bond was not allowed the usual 10 percent privilege, it had to be cash. The malicious prosecution of this man, and the resulting effect on his family, continued for eight months. The defendant repeatedly refused to plea bargain to a crime he did not commit. Finally, the week before he was to go on trial, all charges were dropped. The prosecution had no evidence.

Think of the thousands of dollars lost to attorney fees and the interest on a six figure cash bond. Not the least of all was the fact the defendant and his parents were denied visitation with his young children during this eight month period. This time period included Christmas.

I am that man, the defendant.

The Van Wert legal system has been corrupt for decades and no one in the county has the guts to correct it. All the criminals are not in jails, some work in the courthouse and we elect them to their jobs.
