Letter: That police chief is some dancer

Hail to the Chief … Lima City Police Chief Kevin Martin and his dancing partner, Tanya Shafner, of Tanya’s Dance Studio. They were the winners of Dancing with Lima 2015. They also took home the people’s choice award.

It turned out to be a great event and raised nearly $11.000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Cure SMA.

A big thank you goes to all the participants: Mindi Ahl of Tom Ahl dealerships, attorney Matt Huffman, County Health Director Kathy Luhn, CountyCommissioner Cory Noonan, City Development Director- Amy Sackman-Odum, and County Tourism Director Chirstine Pleva.

Big thanks also goes to the participating professional dancers Billy Foster and Susan Ward of Step Above Dance Studio, Ashley Etzkorn of Dancers by Gina, Lyn Mulcahy and Crista Warrington of Lyn’s Dance Academy, and Tanya and Doug Shafner of Tanya’s Dance Studio.

A thanks goes to our judges: Dan Mathews of OSU Lima, Bart Mills of Council for The Arts of Greater Lima and Meredith Niese, DJ Doug Wise and host Vince Koza. To all those who donated auction items especially Don Jenkins for the diamond. Thanks to all those who also contributed along with my family and friend and anyone else I may have forgotten.
