SPENCERVILLE — Kevin Kill, of Spencerville, brought his 1968 Chevy Stepside Pickup to the Westgate Charity Car Show in June.
Kill has owned this truck from almost three years. He retired in September of 2014 and loaded up and headed to Arizona. In Yuma, Arizona, there was a car place that sold old cars and trucks. Kill found this truck.
“It was clean with no rust,” he said.
He bought it in January, and the company arranged shipping in a closed container back to Spencerville. It was delivered to his house approximately eight days later.
Chevy was faced with making a work truck to one that offered comfort and convenience. No longer were trucks used exclusively for work in 1968. Chevy was also celebrating its 50th year of manufacturing trucks. An anniversary package was released in 1968 featuring a white-gold-white paint design.
“I’m a car guy and I watch too much TV. I own four trucks and a Harley,” Kill said.
