Lima students qualify for national educators competition

LIMA — Lima Senior High School has announced eight students who qualify for the National Educators Rising Competition. According to a recent press release, Abigail Antus, Savannah White-Malone, Chloe Flores, Bailey Hoover Lexi Jackson, Amirrah Jessee, Almira Soriano and Toniya Wall made it to the national level after competing at the state level. The students will compete from June 28 until July 1, in Washington, D.C.

Lima/Allen County Chamber to host annual golf outing

LIMA — The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 56th annual golf outing. According to a recent press release, the goal of the event is to network and enjoy “friendly” competition. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Hidden Creek Golf Club, 6245 Sugar Creek and Colonial Golfers Club, 10985 Harding Highway. The tickets are $570 for a team or hole sponsor. For chamber members, the price for one golfer is $95 and for four golfers is $380. For non-chamber members, the price for one golfer is $105 and for four golfers is $420.

LIMA — A Lima man alleged to have trafficked large amounts of fentanyl in Allen County on Friday waived his constitutional right to a speedy trial. As a result, a jury trial for Seyoum Lawrence scheduled to begin April 9 has now been reset for late May.
