Allen County Museum to host lecture on local oil history

LIMA — Retired pharmacist and Allen County Museum docent Karlyn Lauer will speak at the museum at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 21 at the museum, 620 W. Market St., Lima.

Lauer will present a lecture on Lima’s early oil history, including the 1885 discovery of the world’s largest oil field in Allen County. The lecture will also put a spotlight on three men who impacted the local oil industry: John W. Van Dyke, John D. Rockefeller and Herman Frasch Jr.
