P&G Lima, Cooper Farms awarded for helping environment

LIMA — The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has recognized 48 businesses across the state of Ohio that are helping the environment, including Proctor & Gamble’s Lima facility and Cooper Farms Cooked Meats in Van Wert.

“Ohio is the heart of sustainability, and we’re committed to recognizing those at the forefront of innovation and stewardship,” said Ohio EPA Director Anne M. Vogel in a recent press release. “We’re excited to reward companies that are helping children grow up in a safe environment and partnering to support the communities they call home. Their work inspires all of us to do more, and we are proud to share in their success.”

P&G was awarded due to its efforts in creating zero waste in landfills. According to a recent press release, the company currently recycles around 9,000 tons of cardboard, plastic and other products. Cooper Farms Cooked Meats was awarded for its efforts in energy efficiency. According to a recent press release, the company installed LED lights and sensors, saving 2.23 million kilowatt hours of energy last year. The company also recycles thousands of pounds of other materials.
