Coming across town, I came to railroad tracks where an older fellow was pushing a shopping cart across the tracks. His cart was full of items that were important to him. As he was pushing, the cart fell over, with his items laying all over the tracks.
Cars started going around him and just kept going. When I pulled up to the tracks, he was trying to pull things to the side of the street. I started to go around and thought to myself, “Don’t you be the one that keeps going.” I pulled to the side, while other cars just kept going. I got out, walked back and just started picking up his items to put in his cart or moved them to the side of the street.
He was someone’s son, brother, father or grandfather. I was just a daughter, mother, sister and grandma. We were two strangers working together. When we finished, he said, ‘Thank you, maam.’ I went and gotback in my car while he took his cart and started pushing it again.
So please, during this Easter season, think of those in need.
