USDA approves funding for energy-efficient projects in Ohio

LIMA — The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced a total of $4.9 million in funding for projects in Ohio. According to a recent press release, the investment will go toward energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy systems.

“Rising operating costs are hitting our rural small businesses and agricultural producers, and it is imperative that we do what we can to ensure these operations continue to thrive,” Director Jonathan McCracken said. “These investments are examples of the USDA’s unwavering commitment to financing rural infrastructure that promotes clean, renewable energy while also lowering costs for those who really need it.”

Locally, Fuerst Brothers, LLC, Heitmeyer Funeral Home, LLC and Buckeye Application Sales and Service received funding from the grant.

Projects listed below:

• Fuerst Brothers, LLC, Columbus Grove: $214,446 grant for the purchase of an energy-efficient grain dryer

• Heitmeyer Funeral Home, LLC, Columbus Grove: $15,995 grant for the purchase of a 7.2-kilowatt (kW) ground-mounted solar array

• Buckeye Application Sales and Service, Continental, $46,620 grant for the purchase of a 37.8-kilowatt (kW) ground-mounted solar array
