Attempted murder charge dismissed for Waynesfield woman

WAPAKONETA — A Waynesfield woman indicted on a charge of attempted murder has entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors and will be sentenced only on a charge of felonious assault.

Janine Little, 58, pleaded guilty to the second-degree felony during a change-of-plea hearing last week in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the attempted murder charge in exchange for Little’s plea.

A pre-sentencing report was ordered prior to her June 18 sentencing.

Little was taken into custody by Auglaize County deputies following a Jan. 22 incident at 17494 Smith Road, east of Waynesfield. Deputies had responded to an apparent domestic dispute report and upon arrival found Andrew Little, 56, suffering from a “severe laceration,” according to the initial report. Janine Little was also in the residence suffering from lacerations to the throat, hand and stomach.

Janine Little initially pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated murder and felonious assault and later amended her pleas to not guilty by reason of insanity. She was found competent to stand trial following a psychiatric evaluation performed at the Dayton-based Forensic Psychiatry Center for Western Ohio.
