Firefighters respond to Reese Avenue blaze

LIMA — An early morning kitchen fire left no injuries and estimated $15,000 in damages, according to the Lima Fire Department.

The department was notified of the fire at 7:02 a.m. at 1750 Reese Avenue, one of three apartments contained within the structure. The fire is believed to have started with food cooking on a stove in the kitchen. The fire was mostly limited to the kitchen, although the fire did burn through one wall going into another living area in the apartment.

According to the fire department, all residents of the apartment had evacuated prior to its arrival at 7:05 a.m. Crews remained on site containing and extinguishing the fire until 8:13 a.m.

According to the Allen County Auditor’s website, the structure is owned by Eastside Apartments of Lima Ltd. and the apartment has an appraised value of $33,100.
