King bill heard in committee

COLUMBUS — The Ohio House Government Oversight Committee heard House Bill 471 Tuesday. The legislation, sponsored by State Rep. Angie King (R-Celina), would allow anyone to protest a party’s nomination, regardless of political affiliation if a candidate was ineligible to hold office.

It would recodify the reasons for this if a candidate was not a U.S. citizen, was not the minimum age to hold office, would exceed term or age limits, had a criminal conviction or did not provide a former name as required by law.

The committee will hold additional hearings for the bill.
