Delphos schools plans home learning day for solar eclipse

DELPHOS — Delphos schools will be in session online Monday, April 8, due to anticipated traffic for the total solar eclipse.

“No students or staff will be on school grounds on April 8 in order to avoid heavy traffic and overall congestion that is predicted by county officials,” Superintendent Jeff Hobbs wrote in a letter to parents on Tuesday.

Instead, teachers will send students home with a set of eclipse glasses, information about the solar eclipse and other lessons to complete from home that day so parents and buses don’t get stuck in traffic.

Emergency officials anticipate mass traffic will hit the region starting Friday, April 5, as visitors travel to view the eclipse in Lima and other cities that fall within the path of totality for the total solar eclipse.

The moon is expected to block the sun for 3 minutes and 52 seconds from 3:09 to 3:13 p.m. April 8.
