Passenger dies after two-vehicle crash near Ottawa

OTTAWA — The passenger in a car died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon after the driver in the sports utility vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign.

Feliciano Ramos-Villa, 34, of Pandora, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, at the intersection of Old state Route 65 and county Road M south of Ottawa at 12:20 p.m. Thursday, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lima post.

Andrew Ellerbrock, 31, of Ottawa, traveled south on Old state Route 65 in a 2017 GMC Sierra. Ramon Ramos-Villa, 44, of Leipsic, driving a 2007 Ford Edge, traveled west on county Road M and failed to yield from the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by Ellerbrock’s vehicle.

Ramon Ramos-Villa’s vehicle overturned before coming to rest.

Life Flight transported Ramon Ramos-Villa to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima for his injuries. An ambulance transported Ellerbrock to Mercy Health-Putnam County Emergency Services in Glandorf with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
