Heartland Image Foundation to host YouTube influencer workshop

LIMA — The Heartland Image Foundation will show students how to be a “YouTube Influencer.” The program will take a proactive approach teaching influencers to influence with responsibility.

The program is free to students entering grades 6 through 12. It begins the weekend of June 24th and 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and ends the end of July.

There is no prior experience required but if students have a working knowledge and some experience with social media the program will enhance their skills. Students will collaborate in groups and create a functional YouTube channel. They will explore how to appropriately use other social media in a manner that will positively impact our society.

Following the opening weekend, sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The sessions will be on Friday, July 29th and Saturday, July 30th from 10:00a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The is no fee to participate but donations are appreciated. Students will need to bring a laptop or a tablet and a recording device from a cell phone to a camera. Meals and learning materials will be provided.

Space is limited so students can send a message via the Heartland Image Foundation Facebook Page to view more details.

According to the Heartland Image Foundation’s Facebook page, the group is “a community nonprofit that promotes heartland values by creating video and other media content to showcase the amenities of cities, towns and communities throughout the heart of the United States. Our approach is to utilize arts, education, and local involvement to re-energize these communities’ social and economic progress.”
