Lima schools opening food pantries in 3 schools

LIMA — Lima schools, in partnership with the West Ohio Food Bank, will open food pantries in three of its school buildings.

Those schools include Freedom Elementary School, 575 Calumet Ave., Lima; Heritage Elementary School, 816 College Ave., Lima and Unity Elementary School, 925 E. Third St., Lima.

Staff from other school buildings may use the pantries to help students who are identified as being in need from their buildings. The school district will, on occasion, ask families to give back by bringing in food for the pantries or by donating to the West Ohio Food Bank.

Other businesses making this initiative possible include:

Lima Pallet, offering a truck to deliver food to the pantries; Rightway Food Services, offering items to be used in the pantries; Allied Environmental, Sally Windle and Jessica Snay all donated a refrigerator.
