Man found lying next to train tracks in Wapakoneta

WAPAKONETA — Police officials were investigating a man injured when he was possibly hit by a train and later found next to the tracks Monday.

The 36-year-old man, whose name investigators were not releasing Monday, was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Someone spotted the man lying next to the tracks at 7:31 a.m. and alerted police officials, Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock said Monday.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene of the CSX railroad near the train depot just north of Auglaize Street, Hunlock said.

Officers were investigating the matter and trying to determined what happened. No further information was available late Monday, Hunlock said.
