Lima police respond to two early morning shootings

LIMA — Two early morning shootings at apartments along Brower Road kept Lima Police officers busy Saturday.

At 3:20 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 531 Brower Road apartment complex, where Eric Irons, 26, of Lima, had been shot during an altercation. Irons was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center, where he was admitted for surgery. He is currently listed in good condition.

Detectives are looking for Dewaughn Morgan, 18, of Lima, in connection with the shooting. Anyone with information on Morgan’s whereabouts should call the Lima Police Department at 419-227-4444 or Det. Steve Stechschulte at 419-221-5181.

Just over an hour later, at 4:42 a.m. officers responded to a shooting at 1185 Adamlee in the Brower Commons Apartments. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Nicholas Benjamin, 23, was shot by his nephew, Mark Glover Jr., 22, during an argument.

Benjamin was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, where he was treated and released.

Glover was arrested and charged with suspicion of felonious assault. A second arrest was also made, with Devonne Johnson, of Columbus, arrested on suspicion of obstructing justice.
