FINDLAY — A Van Wert woman was taken to the hospital with neck and back injuries after her vehicle struck the rear of a semi trailer Wednesday morning in Findlay.

Johnny Appleseed to host winter classes

LIMA — Johnny Appleseed Park District is hosting classes for children to learn about white-tailed deer. According to a recent press release, children ages 3-5 are welcome to join the classes with an adult. The children will sing, create and hear stories. The release also states participants should dress for a hike. The classes will be held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 1 and 2 at McElroy Environmental Education Center, 2355 Ada Road. On Saturday, Feb. 3 classes will be held at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m.

Fatal crash report released for 2023

LIMA — Throughout November and December of 2023, the Lima-Allen County Safe Community Coalition released reports of two fatal crashes. According to a recent press release, there were a total of 10 fatal crashes in Allen County in 2023, which is down from the 15 crashes in Allen County in 2022.

U.S. EPA lowers screening levels for lead in soil around homes

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is lowering the screening levels for lead-contaminated soil in residential areas, which means more of them could end up being remediated under the Superfund law and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
