New Paw Prints location in Lima offers salon for pets

BATH TOWNSHIP — Walking into the new Paw Prints pet salon feels a bit like walking into a beauty parlor.

And why wouldn’t it? What dog doesn’t want to feel beautiful?

“I love that it’s more of a salon, like a hair salon-type feel,” said Jolene Siebeneck, owner of the three Paw Prints locations. “I feel like it’s more inviting. It’s more relaxing.”

Paw Prints Lima East reflects the “one-on-one, express grooming services” that Paw Prints aims to offer at 3233 Harding Highway, across 309 from Daryl and Daryl’s Pizza and Wings on Lima’s east side. It celebrated its ribbon-cutting with the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday afternoon, along with a three-hour open house.

“A lot of other grooming places, you kind of drop off the dog there all day,” Siebeneck said. “Here, it’s one on one. You come in, your pets are groomed for as long as that takes to groom them, and you’re here with us.”

The third location is the evolution of Paw Prints, which started in 2004 with a mobile grooming truck. In 2005, a storefront opened in Leipsic. In 2018, Siebeneck expanded into the Lima market with a location of Slabtown Road, which will continue to remain open.

The wood flooring at the entrance leads you to spacious rooms for grooming dogs. Rooms include their own wash stations. They’re also offering a self-service pet wash for people who want to do it themselves, which is available without an appointment.

Siebeneck is well known in dog-grooming services, winning many competitions. Trophies line the walls in the new location, near posters recognizing the various pet stylists and helpers.

“We take pride in our grooming skills,” Siebeneck said. “A lot of groomers come to us because we do travel around the country and compete in competitions. It’s that next level over everyday pet grooming.”

The new location is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, according to its website, pawprintsspa.com. People can book appointments online or by calling 419-943-4772 to help spoil their pets.

“They are their babies,” Siebeneck said. “They treat them just like their kids. That’s why with our service, I want to provide a one-on-one service that’s more personal. It really is to serve pets like their babies or kids.”
