It’s been hard to keep the roses growing during these hazy days.
Thorn: To that unhealthy wildfire smoke coming down from Canada. We miss the bright blue skies usually associated with summer in our neck of the woods.
Rose: To Matthew Sanders, who filmed a movie in Lima, “Up the Score.” All the participants but one in the film are from Lima. The film debuts at 7:20 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Civic Center. We should support artists who want to showcase our city.
Thorn: To Savanna Hebrock, who could have spent more than a decade in prison for firing a gun during a party. She’s lucky, as no one was hurt and she’ll have her conviction set aside once she completes drug court. Most people aren’t so lucky when drugs and weapons mix.
Rose: To Guillermo Garron, who won the championship flight of the Lima City Men’s Golf Championship against Brett Eley on Sunday.
