LIMA — A Lima home health care company is settling in at its new location while expanding its services to include hospice care.
Heritage Health Care and Legacy Hospice held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house to celebrate its move from the now-closed Lima Manor on Brower Road to 2615 Fort Amanda Road next to Shawnee Manor. Affiliated with HCF Management Inc., the same parent company behind Shawnee Manor and Burton’s Ridge, Wapakoneta Manor, Roselawn Manor in Spencerville and other nursing, assisted living and rehabilitation facilities in Ohio and Pennsylvania, Heritage Home Care is another avenue through which the company can provide a wide range of services for post-acute care patients, according to Heritage Health Care Director of Operations Gen Stelzer.
”We strive to have this post-acute continuum of care,” she said. “So we’ve had the skilled nursing homes and assisted living for quite a long time, and then more recently in the last five to seven years, we’ve really boosted our home care division. Within the last year, we started the hospice division to kind of close that circle and have the whole continuum of care.”
Stelzer emphasized that, whether it is home health care, rehabilitation or hospice care, the goal is to care for not just the patient but to be there for the whole family, as they are all affected in these situations.
“That continues even after the clients are no longer with us,” she said.
Having the resources of a parent organization like HCF helps set these facilities apart from other home care and hospice agencies, Stelzer said.
“What really sets us apart is our commitment to start services as soon as possible once we receive that call,” she said. “So we make it a top priority within 24 or 48 hours to meet with the family and start those services. We are also outside the box in some of the approaches we take as far as chaplain care, music therapy and volunteer services to be able to add some extra support when needed.”
