Roses and Thorns

The roses are in full bloom as we celebrate Easter weekend in the region.

Rose: To Frank Kill, Lima Central Catholic’s boys basketball coach who decided to resign after 13 years at the helm, including two state championships. He continued the legacy built by Bob Seggerson at the school, and the T-Bird faithful appreciated his passion for the game.

Rose: To Bath Superintendent Rich Dackin, who will end his tenure as the district’s superintendent July 31. He plans to stick around the district as a teacher there.

Thorn: To Lima’s code enforcement team, which appears to be unevenly applying the rules and being more demanding of local landlords. The rules must be applied evenly for everyone.

Rose: To the strangers and friends alike who worked together after a series of tornadoes tore through Auglaize County last weekend.

Rose: To Elida farmer Brian Jostpille, who won a national award as one of the highest-producing soybean farmers in America.
