Re-Deck: Lima gives seal of approval

LIMA — The Lima City Council resumed the first meeting of the new year. On Monday evening, Council passed several resolutions to continue to move forward with city improvements.

At the City Council Meeting on Dec.19, ordinance 281-22 was placed on second reading. According to the meeting minutes, the ordinance was to authorize the mayor to enter into a contract with Re-Deck of Northwest Ohio, LLC for the Department of Housing and Neighborhoods for property maintenance. Fifth Ward Councilor Jamie Dixon and Third Ward Councilor Carla Thompson moved to defeat the ordinance due to discovering unpleasant reviews of the company on the Better Business Bureau website.

Re-Deck of Northwest Ohio, LLC, Joseph Croft, spoke with City Council at the meeting.

“I have owned Re-Deck of Northwest Ohio since 2016,” said Croft. “We have completed over 9,000 jobs and had $21 million dollars in revenue. It is our job to try and make every customer happy; unfortunately, sometimes that does not work.”

Croft added he wanted the city contract due to already purchasing properties and increasing the value of homes to help with improvements in Lima.

The councilors passed the ordinance on the second reading.

The City Council also passed the ordinance to allow the mayor to apply for and accept funding from the State of Ohio’s Office of Criminal Justice Services Ohio Body Worn Camera grant program.

Council approved an ordinance to change the contract with ACI Const. Co., Inc. The company will begin Phase 2 of construction for the Greater Lima Region Amphitheater and Park. In addition, the ordinance approved the contract between the mayor and ACI Construction to increase by $765,000.

In other business, City Council passed a resolution to honor the Tomlinson Motor Service, Inc. for 100 years of business.

“If anyone had any doubts, they took it to Tomlinson,” said Second Ward Councilor Tony Wilkerson. “What a great honor to be a part of your customers. I thank you for your years of service.”

“I just want to say thank you for the services you provide not only to my family but the many families here in the Lima area,” added Dixon. “Congratulations on your centennial.”
