Bluffton

Bluffton Family Recreation will have a summer T-ball league from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Bluffton park, running from July 7 to Aug. 6. It’s open to boys and girls ages 5 to 7, with players hitting off a tee and working on fundamentals. Cost is $30 for non-BFR members and $15 for members. Registration deadline is June 9. Columbus Grove

The Columbus Grove Youth Athletic Association will hold its 8U, 10U and 12U baseball tournament July 17, 18 and 19 at Hall Avenue Park in Columbus Grove and Vaughnsville Baseball diamond in Vaughnsville. Entry fee is $200 per team for school teams only until June 1. After June 1, the fee is $225. There’s a three-game guarantee with awards for first and second place. The Tier 1 Sports Basketball Academy is offering four days a week training for boys and girls in June. Sessions emphasize drills, strength training, speed training and core/balance training for two hours a day at Lima Senior. Spots are limited. Wapakoneta

Wapakoneta is playing host to a Wednesday morning summer basketball league for girls entering grades 9-12. Players will be placed on the teams for the summer and play two games each day. The Scoonie Penn Basketball Camp is June 25 at St. Marys High School, including the former Ohio State player from the 1999 Final Four team. The Lima Family YMCA located at 345 South Elizabeth St. is putting on a summer basketball league for those in first through fourth grades. The first and second grade league games are 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and the third and fourth grade games at 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursdays with practices held Saturdays. CYCLING

Ride to Remember

The inaugural Ride to Remember bicycle ride is July 11 in Bluffton, with rides from 10 to 100 miles starting and ending at Bluffton Family Recreation. There is a 10-mile loop, a 64-mile loops with cutoffs for 13, 17, 24, 50 and 57 miles and a 10-mile course. Funds benefit the Bluffton Bike and Pedestrian Pathway Committee. Cost is $20 for individuals, and $25 after June 30. Family members ride for $20 for the first member, $15 for the second and $5 for each additional member, with an extra $5 for each registration after June 30. Register online at bfronline.com.

FOOTBALL

Elida

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold a free youth football clinic Friday, July 10. The clinic is free to all area youngsters entering the third through sixth grades. The check-in time is 5 p.m. and it will run from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Elida’s Kraft Stadium. In case of rain, the clinic will be held in the Elida Fieldhouse. Basic skills will be taught by the following area coaches: Geron Stokes, Andy Schafer, John Zerbe, Bill Sammons, Jeff Thomas, Carey Arthur, Josh Spencer, Dan Allison and Tim Goodwin. There will also be current and former area NFL and college players including Kyle Miller, Zac Dysert, Jarrod Pughsley, Joe Horn, Taylor Royster, Matt Bahr, Zach Rosenbauer, Seth Rosenbauer and Brice Fackler.

Shawnee

WOFOA and OHSAA instructor Deron Bailey will be holding a new football officials class starting Monday, July 13, at Shawnee High School.

Cost of the classes are $135 and covers OHSAA permit fee, rules books and testing.

St. Marys

The St. Marys Roughriders will conduct four fundamentals football camps for incoming kindergartners through ninth grade students. These camps will be held at the TURF football complex. The cost will be $30 for each participant. There will be a $20 charge for the eighth and ninth grade camp. Athletes will receive a treat each day as well as a camp shirt. The Elementary Camp for grades K-3 will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 22-24, the Midget Camp for grades four through six will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 22-24, the Junior High Camp for seventh- and eighth-graders will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. July 13-15 and the freshmen camp for ninth-graders will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 13-15. The St. Marys Tailgate For Cancer on June 24 includes featured speakers Anthony Schlegel and Bobby Carpenter, former Ohio State players. Convoy

The Kory Lichstensteiger Football Camp is 9 a.m. to noon June 27 at Crestview High School’s football field, 531 E. Tully St., Convoy. Cost is $60. Event includes instruction from an NFL strength and conditioning coach, exposure to Division I, II, III and NAIA universities and interactions with current players from Division I playing at all offensive positions. The University of Findlay football program will hold an Elite Prospect Camp on July 6 for participants in grades 9-12. The camp will feature instruction on individual skills from the football staff and other college coaches from around the area. Crossroads Mission Trip

A tournament benefitting Crossroads Youth Mission Trip in July is Saturday, June 27 at Lost Creek Country Club. The four-man, shotgun tournament tees off at 9 a.m., with registration at 8 a.m. Cost is $40 per player or $160 per team, including 18 holes of golf, cart, dinner and a chance to win prizes. Awards are offered for first, second and third place, along with putting challenge, longest drive and closest to the pin. Golf For Kids Sake scramble

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Putnam County is hosting its fourth annual Golf for Kids’ Sake four-person scramble at 1 p.m. June 28 at Pike Run Golf Club, Ottawa. Money raised stays in Putnam County. Lima

The Lima Family YMCA/Kewpee Race Series is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, with the Herb Jay River Run 5K. Other races in the series are the Kewpee/YMCA Triathlon at 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2; the Kewpee/YMCA 4 Mile at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, and the Kewpee 10K at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8. The Run to the Moon! 5K and 10K is July 18 at Armstrong Air and Space Museum. All runners get entry into the museum. 10K Triple Crown top three overall winners get cash prizes, with cash prizes for the top male and female overall finishers in the 5K. Columbus Grove

The Lima Family YMCA/Kewpee Triathlon/Duathlon will be held at 8 a.m. Aug. 2 at Ottawa Metro Park, east of Lima on State Route 81. Race registration and fees are $50 for entries postmarked on or before June 30 and $60 for entries from July 1 through July 25 and race day by 7 a.m. Three person team or two person non-competitive team registration is $80 for entries postmarked on or before June 30 and $90 from July 1 through July 25 and race day before 7 a.m. If entering as a team, each member must fill out a registration form and all entries must be mailed together. Grand Lake Fall League

The Grand Lake Fall League is taking registrations for 2015. The fastpitch league will be divided up into three divisions this year: ninth–12th grade, sixth–eighth grade, and third–fifth grade. LATA tournaments

The Lima Area Tennis Association championships are set. Singles are June 26-28; doubles are July 10-12 and mixed are July 17-19 at the UNOH Tennis Courts.
