LIMA — Community members gathered Saturday morning to dress as their favorite superheroes and raise money for a local organization. Crime Victim Services hosted its annual Superhero 5K run through its Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program.

LIMA — Over 60 businesses partnered with the Lima Police Department to host a trunk or treat at Lima Senior on Saturday afternoon. The high school parking lot was full of community members and their children lined up to receive candy.

Nation’s Report Card shows declines for students

WASHINGTON — The Nation’s Report Card, was released by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics. The effects of COVID-19 with school cancellations and online learning are becoming more evident. The national average score declines in mathematics for fourth- and eighth-graders were the largest ever recorded in that subject.

Crestview receives literacy grant

CONVOY — Crestview Local Schools has been awarded the Reaching All Students Through Language and Literacy grant for $200,000. This grant will provide teachers with the professional development needed to ensure they are utilizing the most effective instructional practices in literacy as they learn from nationally recognized experts in the field. These experts will assist teachers and administrators in analyzing data to identify areas of growth related to literacy instruction and help teachers implement a project to improve outcomes for students.
