TROY — Each morning when she wakes up, Juanita Mengel removes the silicone liner of her prosthetic leg out from under a heated blanket so that the metal parts of the artificial limb don’t feel as cold on her skin when she straps the pieces together.

LIMA — The former finance director of the Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission was indicted by an Allen County grand jury earlier this month on charges of theft in office and misuse of credit cards.

Ground broken for Betty’s new barn

LIMA — Bittersweet at Betty’s Farm has officially broken ground for their new barn. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, at its location at 4640 Ft. Amanda Road. According to a recent press release, the organization serves and teaches people with autism. The organization originally was founded in 1983 in Whitehouse, Ohio. Bittersweet then expanded to Lima in 2006.

Allen County shows an increase in overall budget

LIMA — As the year comes to a close, provisions are being made for the coming fiscal year of 2024. The Allen County Commissioners revealed a proposed 2024 budget of $36.9 million for the next year. The budget shows an increase of over $400,000 from last year’s budget.

Lima woman charged with involuntary manslaughter in drug death
