Letter: Know the real reason for bus driver shortage

As a retired school bus driver, I find the reasoning for schools not having enough drivers laughable.

Like everything else in this world, it’s supply and demand. If schools and the state — the state has killed the retirement system — are not going to pay wages or supply benefits, you are not going to have a supply of drivers.

It’s not about the kids. It’s about me paying my bills, same as anyone else.

Further, our system of nanny state has decided that people who never saw the inside of a bus make rules so that if anything goes wrong, it’s the drivers fault, and liability is removed from the school district.
