Being born and raised in the Columbus Grove community, as I’m sure is common in most every surrounding town, it was easy to take what was available to me for granted. Now as a coach, it is clear just how much support it takes behind the scenes to make any of it possible.
From all of us who grew up in these small communities, thank you to everyone who has donated their time or money to improve the experiences of all the kids growing up in Northwest Ohio. Thank you to everyone who has taken part in raffles, dinners and all other form of fundraising year after year.
Thank you to organizations like the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and athletic boosters. Without all of you, the kids playing sports would not have the equipment or facilities that we need to compete at the highest level possible.
Thank you also to all the coaches who run the programs and all the volunteers that help, who give their time up to help enrich the lives of all those they instruct. The number of hours spent, stress endured and especially the complaints listened to often go by without appreciation.
Without your support, the athletic success you read about in this paper would never be possible. All sports have a barrier of entry, and with the help from the communities we live in, every kid has the chance to develop, make memories and even find success through athletics.
