Lima schools named Breakfast All-Stars for breakfast program participation

LIMA — Nine buildings in the Lima City Schools district have been named Breakfast All-Stars by the Ohio School Breakfast Partners.

The recognition is based on the number of student taking advantage of the breakfast in the classroom program, which was implemented in the school district in 2003.

The following schools were recognized as platinum all-stars with 80 percent or higher participation in the program: Freedom Elementary, Independence Elementary, Liberty Arts Magnet School, North Middle School, South Science and Technology Magnet School and Unity Elementary School.

Heritage Elementary and West Middle School were recognized with gold status for a participation rate in the breakfast in the classroom program of 70-79 percent.

The Ohio School Breakfast Partners consists of the American Dairy Association, Children’s Hunger Alliance, the School Nutrition Association of Ohio, Action Healthy Kids and the Ohio Department of Education.
