Elida Latin students awarded for national exam performance

ELIDA — Sixteen Elida Latin students were awarded recently awarded for their performance on the National Latin Exam.

Latin I students Cody Crates, Silvia Morales and Conner Douglass received the Magna Cum Laude designation, and Katherine Wright was awarded Cum Laude.

Latin II students Dakota Holdeman received Silver Maxima Cum Laude; Dane Harter and Alana Shurelds won Magna Cum Laude; and Micah Schilling, Makala Bok, Lily Niebel and Preston Layman won Cum Laude.

Latin III students Alyssa Stiles won Silver Maxima Cum Laude, Makaya Burgess won Magna Cum Laude; and Michael King and Haydin Warner won Cum Laude.

The students were out of 143,000 Latin students throughout the United States and 24 foreign countries who completed the exam. They will have the opportunity to win scholarships through the American Classical League and the Junior Classical League, according to Elida’s Latin language teacher, Quinn Whittaker.
