Allen Foundation awards scholarships

KENTON — The R.E. and Joan S. Allen Foundation awarded a total of $66,000 in scholarships to Kenton students in 2017. In May, it awarded $30,500 in scholarships to first-year students. Recently the foundation awarded $35,500 in renewal scholarships to 28 students.

The foundation awarded $17,000 in second-year scholarships to Kelsey Baughman, Joy Boone, Ashton Cole, Kelsey Erwin, Maureen Gray, Hannah Heilman, Brooklyn Hoyt, Calynn Morris, Carrie Morris, Trevor Martin, Kirsten Osborn, Benjamin Sydney Schlingof and Jenna Sherman.

The Allen Foundation awarded $10,000 to the following third year students, Brooke Bahr, Mariah Clawson, Travis Downing, Trevor Downing, Caitlan Jouhnson, Dylan Myers and John Rembis.

The following fourth years students received $8,500 in renewal scholarship, Emily Baird, Kylie Bell, Braiden Bradley, Jonathon Szczerba, Daniel Warner and Megan Webb.

The Allen Foundation has awarded 1,367 to different students, totaling $2, 450, 150, since 1991. The Allen Foundation has awarded multi-year scholarships to 611 students.
