Klopfenstein introduces bill to allow patriotic groups in schools

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Roy Klopfenstein, R-Haviland, announced that he and Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan, D-Parma, introduced legislation to allow patriotic organizations to share information in schools.

If put into law, the proposal would let organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, FFA and Civil Air Patrol to hold presentations in schools.

The measure will allow schools to choose when, where and how long the presentations are.

Organizations will also undergo and pay for a background check, similar to what is required for teachers.

The bill will next receive a number and committee assignment.
