New resident physicians coming to St. Rita’s

LIMA — Twenty-six incoming resident physicians matched with Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center on Friday.

Mercy Health has recruited 26 resident physicians to the Lima region each year since the medical center expanded its graduate medical education program in 2019.

The latest class of incoming resident physicians includes 12 internal medicine residents, six emergency medicine residents, six family medicine residents and two podiatric and surgery residents, according to a press release from Mercy Health.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to bring a new class of physicians not only to St. Rita’s Medical Center, but to the Lima community as well,” Dr. Matt Owens, chief clinical officer for Mercy Health-Lima, said in the release. “Match Day is a proud tradition in the medical education community, and the Graduate Medical Education program allows us to train and recruit providers to our region that are interested in furthering our mission and caring for our community.”
