Eclipse-related bus tour highlights Neil Armstrong family sites

WAPAKONETA — The Auglaize County Historical Society is hosting an event aimed at welcoming visitors who have come to the Wapakoneta area for the April 8 solar eclipse to learn about attractions in the region that are linked to hometown hero Neil Armstrong.

A bus trip is planned starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, April 5, that starts with a visit to the Airstream factory in Jackson Center before returning to Wapakoneta to view Armstrong’s birthplace, his school, his boyhood home and the airfield where he learned to fly.

Lunch will be served at the St. Paul United Church of Christ. John Zwez, former site manager for the Armstrong Air & Space Museum and family friend of the Armstrongs, will address the group during lunch. The final stop is the Armstrong Air & Space Museum.

The cost of the tour is $63 per person. Registration includes bus accommodations, lunch, and admission to all sites. Seating is limited.
