Troy man charged following chase

LIMA — A 35-year-old Troy man who was involved in a recent chase with police through three counties is expected to plead to the charges next month.

Andrew M. Black, 35, Troy, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs and failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer on a bill of information Tuesday before Putnam County Common Pleas Judge Keith Schierloh.

A change of plea hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. March 20 on the matter. Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety.

According to reports of the Ottawa Police Department, police stopped Black, who was driving a gold Honda SUV near Walmart for a traffic violation at 9:36 p.m. Jan. 28. After the officer made contact with Black, he fled the scene almost striking the officer.

Officers pursued him northbound in a 40-mile pursuit that ran through Putnam, Henry and Wood counties, until Black’s vehicle struck a house near North Baltimore. Two females inside the vehicle were transported from the scene for medical treatment. Black also had three active warrants for his arrest.
