Nutrien Lima emergency response team finishes strong in competition

LIMA – Members of the Nutrien Lima Emergency Response Team brought home one first-place award and two runner-up awards from an international ERT competition last week at the South Carolina Fire Academy.

Teams from nine different Nutrien nitrogen plants from the United States, Canada and Trinidad competed in 7 different events. Lima’s team scored highest in the overall proficiency examination, and as runners-up in confined space rescue and firefighting.

Lima team members at the competition included Corey Brinkman, Neil Goodwin, Joel Lee, Austin Prowant, Josh Seese, Dalton Smith, Adam Stechschulte and Greg Stoner. The team was also supported by Will Calvelage, Steve Martz and Ben Rowe.

In additional news, Nutrien has hired Tuttle Construction to build some small commercial buildings on their property at 2200 Fort Amanda Road. The estimated cost of the construction according to the City of Lima Permit Report is $1.2 million. Russ Decker, Manager of Special Projects, said the construction will include some small warehousing space and a contractor’s building. Some additional work with the infrastructure will be completed. A completion date was not available. Sidney Electric will also be doing some electrical work for an oil storage building on the Nutrien site.
