WAPAKONETA — The Auglaize County Historical Society has announced that the itinerary for its fall bus trip on September 29 will include sites in Seneca and Sandusky counties. The cost is $93 for Historical Society members and $113 for non-members.

The day’s agenda includes:

The American Civil War Museum of Ohio collects, preserves, and interprets the American Civil War and its impact on today’s America. Exhibits feature artifacts, dioramas, mannequins, audio-visual tools, and hands-on experiences.

Lunch will be served at Our Lady of the Pines Retreat Center, and will include a tour of the historic building.

Following lunch a step-on guide Thomas Hoffert, aka, Mr. Fremont, will show the group around the city.

The next stop will be the Rutherford B. Hayes Home at Spiegel Grove, a 31-room mansion and the centerpiece of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums.

Schedel Arboretum & Gardens features nearly 20,000 annuals, roses, perennials and a world class collection of bonsai plants. You won’t want to miss the Japanese garden, waterfall, pools, lanterns, bridges and a pagoda. The Schedel Arboretum & Gardens is also home to the largest collection of lithophanes in the world. Fine carvings are made in wax and a die is then cast to which thin layers of porcelain are added.

The trip will conclude with the traditional stop at a local ice cream shop.
