Ohio NAACP elects new leadership

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Crown Plaza Hotel located in Columbus, Ohio, the Ohio Conference NAACP held its biennial election with terms commencing on September 11, 2021 and expiring on September 9, 2023.

Former Ohio State Sen. Tom Roberts was re-elected as president of the Ohio Conference NAACP during its biennial election Saturday.

Roberts received 55% of the vote in defeating Joe Mallory, president of the Cincinnati NAACP, and received 55% of the votes.

Other officers elected were: Dr. Derrick L. Foward, president of the Dayton NAACP, was elected as 1st vice president;

Andre Washington, president of Ohio APRI, was elected as 2nd vice president; Ophelia Averitt, former president of the Akron NAACP and current NAACP national board member, was elected as 3rd Vice President; Dr. Dora Bronston, former vice mayor of Middletown, was re-elected as secretary; Rev. Dr. Willie L. Perryman, Jr., President of the Toledo NAACP, was elected as treasurer;Oliver Warren, 1st vice president of the Wooster / Orrville NAACP, was elected as assistant secr0 etary. Warren defeated Diane Street, 1st Vice President of the Barberton NAACP and received 56.1% of the votes. There was a tie for the office of Assistant Treasurer.
