Lima police search for information on stabbing

LIMA — A Lima man was treated for stab wounds Wednesday evening, and police are still piecing together what led to the incident.

Officers from the Lima Police Department responded to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center at approximately 10:10 p.m. in reference to a subject there suffering from non-life threatening stab wounds. Officers spoke to the victim, Napoleon Smith, 29, who said he had sustained the injuries as a result of being stabbed by an unknown assailant.

Officers learned the stabbing occurred in the 600 block of Columbia Drive in Lima, and Smith was transported to the hospital by a family member.

The events that led up to the stabbing are still under investigation, police said.
