LEIPSIC — A business that sells educational toys, teacher supplies and books will open in downtown Leipsic.
The Fun Company will hold a grand opening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 4 at 133 S. Main St. in Leipsic. The business is located across the street from the Leipsic Town Hall at the intersection of state routes 65 and 613. If the business reaches 1,000 Facebook likes by the grand opening, there will be a $100 gift card giveaway.
Leipsic native Stacey Benton will serve as store manager and Brian and Mandy Osterfeld, who also own Uptown Market in Leipsic, is the store’s owner. The Leipsic location will be the second for the store as there also is a business in Bellefontaine owned by the Osterfelds.
Benton, a stay at home mom, has two children, Jaxson, 5, and Aubrey 12, and knows the importance of having toys for her children. Their family has visited the store in Bellefontaine and purchased toys from the store.
“We want the kids to be able to come in and experience the items that are hard to find and are online,” Benton said.
She said teachers who had to order school supplies online or travel to get their supplies will now have a local business that meets their school supply needs.
“People are so excited about this business opening. I get stopped by multiple people in town who are excited about this new business,” Benton said.
There was a pop-up store the business did at the Lima Mall at Christmas that was popular, Benton said.
The business specializes in high-quality education toys and almost all items at the Leipsic store will be under $35. There will be an area set up where children can play with the toys in the store. Plans also are to have special events at the business such as birthday parties.
Some of the brands that will be available are Melissa and Doug, Playmobil, Lego, Brio and Fat Brain.
There will be educational books, kids books and scholastic books.
Teacher supplies will be sold beginning this summer including bulletin board supplies, stickers, markers, calendars, charts and borders.
The Facebook page is The Fun Company-Leipsic and the website is btownfun.com Store hours will be 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Hours will change in the summer.
