Mercer County sex offender arrested for second time in as many months

CELINA — A Celina man has been taken into custody for the second in as many months for failing to register a change of address as required of convicted sex offenders.

According to Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey,Tyler L. Lovette, 24, was taken into custody Monday by deputies after being located walking on East Market Street in Celina. On Jan. 23, Lovette was taken into custody on a grand jury Indictment for failure to register, a felony of the fourth degree. Lovette was arrested after he was found hiding in a heating duct in a residence in Celina.

On Feb. 15, Lovette was released from the Mercer County Jail on an own recognizance bond. After being released, Lovette never registered his new address, 509 S. Mill St., Celina. Lovette, being a Tier I sex-offender, is required by law to register his address within three days with the sheriff’s office after release from jail or change of address, both of which applied.

He was charged with failure to register change of address, another felony of the fourth degree.
