Van Wert congressional candidate on pace to walk 1,000 miles in campaign

VAN WERT — Congressional candidate Todd Wolfum is on his way to walking over 1,000 miles throughout Ohio’s 5th Congressional District during his campaign.

Wolfum, running as a Republican against incumbent Rep. Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, began walking up to doors to campaign in August. Thanks to a Fitbit activity tracker on his wrist, Wolfum realized he was on track to walk over 1,000 miles to help promote conservatism in Washington, D.C. Wolfum walked his 300th mile Monday in Sylvania and knocked on his 5,000th door Tuesday in North Baltimore, according to a release from his campaign.

“Republicans have been telling their voters the same things for years and then they disappear after they are elected,” Wolfrum said. “I don’t think it’s because they are dishonest. I think it’s because they get comfortable and find making the conservative fight in Washington is too much work. In walking a thousand miles, I think I’m showing voters the thing I fear least is work.”
