Real Wheels: Chevy Impala just one in a nice collection

LAFAYETTE — This beautiful 1968 Chevy Impala SS convertible is owned by Kevin Mierzejewski, of Lafayette. He brought it to the Westgate Charity Car Show in June.

Mierzejewski has always been a classic car collector, said his daughter, Angela. In addition to this Impala, he owns another Impala, a Nova and a Plymouth.

Of course, most people know that the Chevrolet Impala was, at one time, the best-selling automobile in the United States. Chevy advertised its 1968 models as Dramatic! Distinctive! Daringly new!

The 1968 Chevy Impala model debuted a new front end, while the rear bumper contained “horseshoe” shaped taillights. The Super Sport was sold as an option package for $179.

The car had a variety of engine choices to choose from in 1968. Mierzejewski’s contains the 327 engine.
